“Running a bakery is a long and exhausting process.

For the Fluffy Duck Cafe, located across from the Cleveland Clinic, baking starts everyday at 2:30 a.m. The Fluffy Duck employs three people, including the owner, so it is an all hands on deck operation most of the time. This includes arriving at work hours before the sun rises to get started on the variety of breads, pastries and special orders that the Fluffy Duck churns out on a daily basis.”

The Great Scott head baker creates sweet and savory confections.

Working her way up from “the frosting person” at Pure Delite Bakery to head baker at Great Scott Tavern in just five short years, Lupica blurs the lines between sweet and savory. As the owner of Sweet Teeth Confections, it’s not uncommon to find crumbles of chorizo in her hand pies, a splash of whiskey in her frosting or her chocolate cakes proudly proclaiming pork belly with a stick on top.
